Split Rock

I love history, especially knowing Anne Hutchinson was perhaps massacred here in 1643, but trying to safely access this rock is almost impossible. Thus the one star. It is surrounded by major highways and railings..nI am thankful that the Bronx historian succeeded in saving it from demolition in the 1960's. I have tried to view it while riding in the car but it is hidden among trees. If you can figure out how to safely hike to it, please take photos and post.nIf you have a compass with you, in what direction runs the split?

It is an interesting geological site -n1. split rock arrived at that location when the melting glacier left it there @ 12,000 years ago.n2. site of massacre of Anne Hutchinson and her family in early 1600s. Her daughter hid between the split rock and survived.

The trail clearing makes it so much easier to get to view the rock that much safer.

Much nature. It is just a rock, but good rock, big rock. Must see.
