The walk down and up is quite rigorous but worth it. Coming up on the Portersville bridge with its interesting history is fun. It have been beautifully restored. The abandoned part is fascinating with all of the ruins and the story. The flood that closed the park is highlighted by markers throughout the park area showing the height that the flood waters rose to at different areas in the park. The path in the park is wide and level and shaded.

Super cool hike. Great displays explaining the history of the area. Note that the hike is listed as easy... There is a paved hill that is extremely steep and long. The hill is no joke.. Use your best judgment before going.

The history of the island is thought provoking to see at current day. It was an amazing fall day for the walk to Rose Island. Just like others have posted the hill back up to your vehicle is steep. Well worth the time and effort to visit.

Definitely should have read the reviews before walking the trail. It is beautiful and scenic and the history behind it makes the experience even better but the hill at the beginning and end is no joke. When we were going down a couple people were going up and were calling it the hill of tears lol so just be prepared! But regardless it is so worth it!

Fun place. It is cool to see all the history. I enjoyed the ud83dudeb6‍♂ufe0f hiking. Pretty water falls. Trails get muddy after it rains though so take extra shoes or at least expect muddy shoes and floor mats.
