I don't typically fly with Utah Helicopters but because my instructors are currently out of town I recently scheduled a quick lesson with Chase. Starting with the basics, they are one of the less expensive operations in the Salt Lake area, they're about $20 an hour cheaper than their competitors out of SLC. However they also seem to be a smaller operation. Chase proved to be relatively knowledgeable and extremely charismatic. I felt comfortable flying with him almost immediately. I can't vouch for their management or maintainence dept however because I have only gone up with them once so far. What I can tell you is, their R22 is up there in terms of hours and it spits a bit more oil than I'd like. During preflight I noticed the the entire underside of the rotor was covered in oil. We still had 4 quarts of oil which is the minimum based on the R22 POH, and maybe it's just me, but I'd rather fly with a full 6 quarts instead of 4. Otherwise, great little operation and would be happy to recommend them. With that, do your research. There are a few operations in the area so make sure you know which one will work best for you.
