I took a short walk into the sanctuary early this fall. The rolling hills and trees were beautiful. The trail was well marked by blue triangles nailed to trees along the path. The trees roots stuck out prominently so care was needed to avoid tripping at points. Although it is a swamp, the path wasn't awash. The boardwalks however were old and needing attention. I didn't go far into the park to give an extensive review. I hope to return when I have more time. Attached are some photos.
Beautiful. Rustic. You won't run into many people but make sure to follow the markers because it's easy to get lost if you don't and get mucky. I love this trail but also be careful of rattlesnakes. I know they are they are there but I haven't seen one.
Trail hasn't had DNR maintenance in a long while, with trees down across paths. Snow snakes make walking more difficult with fallen leaves covering them and uneven terrain. Hiking boots recommended. Spotted a few Wild Turkeys.
Beautiful jewel of northern white cedar, made us think we were in upper peninsula. Has moderate to difficult hike due to numerous roots across the path as well as hilly. Saw a Pileated Woodpecker near the stream. Will be back!
