Due to Covid, we had to cancel our destination elopement and decided to get married 4 days after we canceled. I found a dress off the rack in a pinch and was given the name of Maria who graciously took me in and worked her magic on my wedding dress IN TWO DAYS! She is a perfectionist in the best way humanly possible. She made sure that my dress fit me like a glove and worked long hours, including during the middle of the night, in order to alter my dress to perfection. While i'm sure she doesn't want to get in the habit of 2-day turnarounds, I would highly recommend Maria for any dress alteration. Working with Maria was a dream! Her patience, kindness and attention to detail quickly put me at ease. We met several times leading up to my October 2019 wedding and at each appointment I always had her full attention -- meanwhile her studio is filled to the top with gowns for dozens and dozens of other brides!nnFor my gown, Maria was able to add some delicate Italian lace to subtly raise the back of my dress and hide undergarments. The lace came from her collection of materials, collected on her many trips to Europe -- and it beautifully coordinated with my family's heirloom veil. She strengthened a weak hook at the neck and added buttons along the back which coordinated with buttons already on the sleeves. She added a bustle to the back so I was ready for brunch, lawn games and dancing; and she made adjustments to the boning so the gown better fit my frame.nnI highly recommend working with Maria for any bridal or formal gown alterations.

Not only did she take in the dress where it needed to be taken in, we added straps, chopped off about 4 inches of extra fabric, cut out a second lining of the dress, and did A LOT of work on the bodice to make it fit. I highly recommend calling Maria!! The number listed is her cell and was a very easy way to communicate, and she has very flexible appointment times. (Wouldn't email or go to the studio, call!) I had a dress that needed alterations and some additions, she respected my ideas and goals but used her eye and style to offer little bits of advice, and a scarf that made it even more beautiful.
