Ertel Cellars Winery Inc

This is a good Italian-fusion restaurant in Batesville. Food is good, and price is fair. Facility were well maintenanced and restroom was clean, although interior at the restaurant was a little blunt. It was a nice spot to stop by. The reason I do not give 5 stars are that we couldn’t have a winery experience much. I expected to learn something about their winery or wine in general, but there was nothing to be offered. We wanted to do sampling, but at bar after meal (after we paid and left table) we were notified that sampling can be done only at table. It was a disappointment for us. People come to winery because they want to have a winery experience, but I did not feel much passion about winery from staffs. We felt like we went to a restaurant which located next to a winery. BTW, I bought a raspberry wine and it is sweet and tasty.nnHere are my suggestions:n1.tPlease put a sampling wines on menu with a small cost. I believe popular ones are sweet dessert wines. How about all dessert wines in small portion is on menu so that we can try everything? (Maybe $10?) Some review says free sampling, but I think it would be fun if we order and taste everything. I think it can generate more sales of wines. Also maybe discount if we buy multiple wines? People would like to brag about their trips. If they buy multiple wines, some will be a gift, then they will talk about your winery.n2.tMore information from the winery is better. For example, a monthly newsletter at a table would be nice so that we can take a look while we are waiting for the table.n3.tA walk path would be great because this is such a beautiful property. Everyone would like to take photos next to grape vines. If there is a hill, maybe a look-out?? I think some people would love to walk to get fresh before leaving property since many come by a long drive? I would have ordered a glass or wine if I could spend more time on winery. On website, there is a bus tour, but no additional info was there. After lunch, they walk a path, get sweat, then stop by restaurant again for ice tea and dessert??n4.tLastly, every staff should put on at least visible something to show that he/she is a staff. I think customers expect staffs wear uniforms at a fancy restaurant of your price point.nMaybe those ideas have been already implemented, I could not see any during my visit.

What a beautiful place to gather! This is my first time to dine at winery and it was very pleasant experience. All the staffs were very kind and helpful. They complied with Covid safety guidelines and I felt very safe and respected. We had lunch and food was fine (not great but price is affordable and it was pleasant experience overall with a beautiful view and scenery). I highly recommend this place for gathering!

Never disappointed when we eat at Ertel's. Delicious food, good wine, quaint atmosphere. Friendly staff. Worth the drive to Batesville, IN.
