Went in for a car key, Talked to Matt he was very honest about the situation and what the outcome might be. He successfully did what was needed to be done . He's very knowledgeable in what he does. I definitely recommend giving him a shot before going to a dealership. Saved me hundreds of dollars and was super fast too
Saying well established would be an understatement considering they’ve been in business since 1933 as posted on the outside if the building. After many failed attempts trying to get a lost key cut for a 1982 Toyota Celica Supra Finally Elgin Key & Lock had the experience and tools necessary to cut a key from a code. They are conveniently located in downtown Elgin behind the Police Station. I was very pleased with the service and the price was very reasonable!
Scheduled an appointment between 2-4 p.m. had to take a half day from work in order to be available. Elgin Lock & Key was a no show. I called at 4pm to find out why nobody showed and was told they had other emergency calls they had to get to and wouldn’t be able to get here until the next morning. So, not only did I have to wait around for them for two time windows, they offered no discount until I asked for it. Even then, it boiled down to a few free duplicate keys (at about $2.50 each). Wow. Thanks for the $7.50 in exchange for my loss of a half day of pay. The installer, Zach, was very kind and he had no control over the situation. It was the scheduler, Matt, who told me “we are even” when I told him the early morning time wouldn’t work for me because I had another obligation at that time.
