My husband and I were truck driving trying to get home before Thanksgiving... but unfortunately we ran out of time in Annawan Illinois the night before Thanksgiving. Come Thanksgiving lunch time I started walking to Cenex for some snacks and refreshments... and a local lady told me that the restaurant that we were hoping to eat at that evening was giving away Thanksgiving dinners and that I should go in there and see if I can purchase 2 for us. The owner Darryl Rakestraw refused to take payment for the dinners and gave us two full delicious dinners plus pies if interested. Shirley’s coffee bar & diner are the definition of the all American friendly family diner... and because of the COVID have not been able to strive mor display their “amazingness” to the fullest. 100% recommend them! Staff pleasant. Kitchen very slow. Only 6 people (3 parties of 2) we waited over 20 min for a chef salad & panini. Lettuce was becoming limp as does old pre-cut lettuce. Panini was delicious beef brisket with horseradish cram sauce. I'd go back to eat that alone@

Amazingly enough they have a vegan option, minus the bun, but they do have an impossible burger on the menu!nn@wanderlustmoonduo
