I just bought a car from Avenue auto sales(des plaines) that I absolutely fell in love with when I first saw it. I took it for a test drive etc. In which I found no problems however, once I got off the lot and actually drove it somewhere within an hour the check engine light came on which made me very nervous. I bought the car on Wednesday and would not be able to see a mechanic until Saturday.Of course I know buying a used car is an as is sale. however, I called back the next day on a Thursday to see if they would in good faith try and help me with ANYTHING.. based on the fact I didn't even have the car 24 hours and I was sadly mistaken. I was basically told that it was out of their hands!!! Later Thursday I noticed that there was an oil leak and Friday the car started to push out a fair amount of smoke upon startup. I would expect that from buying from craigslist but not from a dealer who has the potential to earn MORE business through word of mouth etc. All in all this isn't an attempt to bash Avenue auto sales but it is a warning that you may want to do more research on a dealer before buying because I ignored the fact they didn't have reviews and now here I am putting in another 700 bucks to fix what should have been fixed before I drove off.
