be transported back in time! worth the short drive from the town of Princeton.nvery peaceful and learn about a bit of history. a great place to get away from it all, and watch for eagles ,hawks and owls. a wonderful creek lies beneath the bridge adjacent to a small park with a picnic table. the park is closed from 9pm to 5am .

1 in 5 covered bridges in Illinois! Coming here and basking in the sun with my love & handsome dog was a perfect day out. I’d come here 10 times over & picnic. Be cautious of the field on one side that is private property because the owner WILL yell at you.

I love to take my morning coffee and donuts at the Red Covered Bridge. This morning, I watched as a pair of eagles made circles in the sky. One eagle flew upstream. One eagle flew downstream. I've also enjoyed the visits of cardinals and red tail hawks. It's fun to see the photographers who come to try their skills on the hundred and fifty seven or so year old structure. I don't think they make enough of the fact that this bridge exists on the Coach Road from Peoria to Galena.

There is a parking area and a nature preserve too! There are owls abundant. . we went during the day so we didn't get to see any.

Awesome beautiful bridge. The grounds are kept very clean and it was relaxing.
