Excellent. March was a great month to visit where there was a bit of spring-break-buzz but not a full-summer-bustle. You really do wonder if you're still in Illinois with the beautiful rock outcroppings that are rich in texture and geological phenomenon. Great camping and perfect for adventure.

Great hiking & camping locations all over rolling hills of Shawnee National Forest. Some of the most beautiful mid western scenery around. You can take an up close look at the ecosystems of the area. In some spots people still regularly find arrowheads and other historical remnants. I would give five stars but I will hold out remaining hopeful that some of the area residents and the state might fund or host some cool events within the wonder of the many parks within the shawnee national forest.

Had no idea what to expect when coming to this National Forest. Absolutely wonderful place. My friends and I had a fantastic time exploring several hikes. I will definitely try to come back and explore more here in the future.

One of the most beautiful and fun places I've been to in this wonderful state. Perfectly dark at night with wonderful star viewing. Plenty of free dispersed camping across multiple locations. Truly diverse, wild and wonderful.
