Stayed at the campgrounds over the weekend. Grounds are really nice and well maintained. Pet-friendly & family friendly. There is a modern restroom and shower, playgrounds, and well spaced out campsites. We stayed in the tent-only area, which was very spacious and directly on the lake, but you can get a great view of the lake from most sites nearby on this side of the grounds. The photos in the online reservation system were not updated, so we were surprised to find the trees had been long cut down; they would have come in handy as a wind barrier during this particular stay.nThe lake had beautiful scenery - perfect for catching an amazing sunset! There were a handful of recreational activities - boating & kayaking, a natural walking trail around the lake, a paved biking trail, and fishing was allowed from practically anywhere, including along the banks of the tent sites. The people that walked through or fished from our site were mostly courteous and kept to themselves.nThis campground was fairly busy with families getting their last camping trips in for the year - not recommended if you prefer a quieter camping experience. Def recommend for the gorgeous views, though!

Amazing!!! The view is beautiful. It's on my top five favorite places to camp.

Trails are either paved or mowed pathways. I would consider them very easy to walk with small ups and downs but generally speaking one of the flatter trails you will find. Signage on the west side of the lake where the path is mowed could be a bit better but your not endanger of getting lost in the wilderness. West side of the lake is pretty shaded, the east side looked more open and exposed. Overall it was a nice little stop to stretch and have lunch since we where in the area. Appears that a good number of people stay in the campground so it is likely pretty popular for car and trailer campers. I would prefer to hammock camp off trail but Iowa only allows camping in designated camps sites and I didn't see any primitive sites along the trail.
