So I did a short ride today on the Wolf Summit section of the trail heading west towards Salem, WV. The trail is ok, there were several muddy areas along the way and some tall grass in some areas as well. There is a big lack of gravel int the area of the trail I was on which makes bicycling a little harder. I'm giving this section of trail a 3 star rating because of these things and the fact that the trail could use some work. The trail is also right next to the highway which may or may not bother some people. In the defense of the trail though, Route 50 wasn't there when the railway was built. If your looking for a quite section of trail, this section isn't it. I did a little over 6 miles round trip which isn't much for a bicycle (nursing a injury from the last ride) so I don't have much more to say about the rest of the trail heading towards Flinderarion. If you like tunnels this one is pretty neat (I did not see any ghosts in there unlike a few horseback riders that I had come across had supposedly seen some in the past). It's all good, ghosts or no ghosts. If you're going to walk this section of trail I suggest hiking boots because of the mud. There are a couple bridges that span over water which are kind of interesting as well.
To me it seems okay, but my wife doesn't agree since all the trail are just next to the highway and you are walking behind peoples backyard. There are some part that are so muddy and you have to find a way to walk through. I wouldn't mind going back but maybe on the summer or some time when i know it hasn't been raining so the trail is dry and not muddy.
It is a very well kept trail in a beautiful area!
Would rate 5 but some parts are very muddy or not kept up bit overall nice trail to walk
It's taken very well care of
