There is a nearby water fountain & kids park. Watertower door is locked. Its seems to have regular maintenance & is well cared for. Surprisingly shorter than I expected.
In my travels across this continent, I have come to enjoy the creations of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). This water tower is only one of many.nStill, it is typical of the craftmanship and hard work ethics owned by the young people in a different era.nThe CCC signed into operation by president Franklin D. Roosevelt's was part of his New Deal that was designed to provide jobs for young men and to relieve families who had difficulty finding jobs during the Great Depression in the United States.nMaximum enrollment at any one time was 300,000. Through the course of its nine years in operation, some 3 million young men participated in the CCC, which provided them with shelter, clothing, food, and a wage of $30 per month.nThat thirty dollars does not seem like much and is only equivalent to about $600 in 2019, but it proved to be a life line for the young people back then because that were required to send twenty-five dollars back home to their families.
