Yegua Creek

Campsites are beautiful. Most back up to waterfront. Easy in and out even with 33ft trailer. Not much shoulder on road off of Hwy 36 bit completely fine. Bring you fishing poles.

Beautiful state park with plenty of room for all kinds of campsites. We have a 30' fifth wheel and had no problem. Good elbow room between spaces, beautiful views, plenty of wildlife. Lake Somerville is gorgeous. Definitely put this one on your list, especially considering how inexpensive it is. Love it!

Tried to take my little nephew fishing on a weekday at Yegua, but was told they do not let fisherman in no more. Not enough room for campers. So I asked is there any available spots left. She pulled a paper and said sorry well all full. I had a hunch she was lying and went online and got a campsite, because an older man did this to me before. Got back to the gate talked to the same lady she didn't let me in and said check in time is at 3pm. She could have let me just enjoy the lake didn't even need to use the campsite. It's like going to hotel early and sitting at the lobby..... I already paid for the campsite and yet she still won't let me in.... so I called Lake Sommerville office number. Talked to a lady and she told me they discourage fisherman without a campsite from getting in. I rented campsites before on weekends and they let me in. Now I am out of money spent on campsite I won't even use. I am certain she let's certain people in.

Awesome place

Second stay here... Stayed over Christmas and New Years this time. Weather was good for the most part, plenty to explore. Good fishing, good family time, and a different tradition complete. Only dislike is there is a lot of burrs in the grass, little feet, like dogs or children, it wreaks havok on. Would be much better if they could get rid of them somehow. Otherwise, great location, beautiful views, and overall a really good time.
