Great little campground. Definitely a hidden gem. So relaxing next to beautiful clear water. Bath house immaculately clean as well as the grounds. Camp manager and host welcoming. We will return, as soon as we find an open date. It books up fast!!!
Excellent campground and hosts!n(update April 2021) Watauga Dam Campground continues to be one of our favorites. Always well kept, neat and clean by the friendliest staff.
Great campground for the avid trout angler. With trophy browns in the lake it's an amazing place to fish right from your campsite.
I have been camping for over 45 years and have never seen a cleaner, well run, service oriented campground than this one. Not to mention the small size and OUTSTANDING location on the most beautiful clear and cold river with fantastic views! The camp hosts will bring ice and firewood right to your site and they pick up your garbage nightly to control wildlife. Dogs are welcome and the bathhouse was spotless and smelled great, and there is a small but nice camp store. Please don't go so I will have a better chance of getting in again very soon!
We have camped here twice and loved it both times. It is a great small campground on the banks of the Watauga River. We fished for trout at our site. Lots of trout fishing in the area. The campground is very clean and folks are friendly. We had a wonderful relaxing week. There is plenty of hiking in the area too. We will go back.
