The Bearwaller Gap trail can be accessed from the Defeated Creek campground and the Bearwaller Gap Tater Knob. Do not try to navigate your car to the trail itself, you'll wind up in a residential area near the middle of the trail with no parking or access point.nnThe trail was a difficult 12 mile hike out and back, and the facilities at the trailheads made it easy to find water and dispose waste. The trail is well-marked around Tater Knob, but gets a little dicey around the Defeated Creek campground. I definitely recommend stopping by, the area is beautiful.

We started at the defeated creek trailhead and hiked to the overlook with great views of the dam. This hike is lots of fun but very intense. About 12 miles total with several big hills and changes in elevation.

12 mile out and back. Hilly with one real real mother of a hill. Be in shape or be prepared for pain. Loved it

This hike was absolutely beautiful! However, prepare yourself as it is a super intense hike. I would highly recommend anyone try this hike!
