My wife and I stayed a week ago. I would give this park a 5 star personally, but the campsites are too close together. This isn't a problem when no one is around. However, a busy season would mean not much privacy. For instance we stayed at campsite 7 which shares a space with campsite 6. This would be very uncomfortable and awkward for 2 different families to have to share a space like that. I feel the park could increase camping activity if they would simply close some of the spots to increase the space. 6 and 7 should be 1 campsite, and the fee could be raised to accommodate. I would pay $20 / night for that large space and stay longer too. You could simply say it is a double site. One other issue is the stall doors on the bathroom are too short. This doesn't give a person much privacy. I haven't seen that in any other state park campground. Otherwise the campground is super clean. The park itself is beautiful. I just wish they would reduce the number of campsites in half to increase space per campsite. I feel your visitation rates would improve. I wonder how much feedback the state used in planning their upgrades. Spending all that money on renovations doesn't matter much if people aren't happy because of close spacing. Maybe these parks should consider cutting campsite numbers in half per campground and increase the number of campgrounds. The improvement would result in more usage and more revenue.

Loved it we went in winter . I know we would have a more adventurous time in spring or fall it was too cold to do much hiking the day we went. It is not for the elderly or handicapped though. It has a nice trail and tower and bridge andif you have a boat or canoe a wonderful lake to go out on.

Very clean, kept camping site. Gravel pads are great. Bathhouse is super clean. Well-marked trails. Ranger and his staff are awesome.

Great place to camp. I felt that the area for each campsite is a little tight.nIf anyone plans to camp in a tent, you should be prepared to struggle a bit to stake the tent to the ground. Those ground are pretty hard and would advise to have metal stakes and ditch the plastic ones. Also do remember to carry a mallot or a something sturdy that will help staking.

If you like tent camping this place is for you! Large and beautiful deep woods park with great trials for hiking. The campground is set up well with plenty of spacing and room. The bathrooms are well maintained. Some advice though, bring everything you will need as stores and such are 10-20 miles away. There is a camp store but for some reason they are closed on the weekends! Good firewood can be purchased at the Exxon at the Rt 45 intersection. Also, bring lots of padding for sleeping as the tent sites are on rough gravel. Tent sites do not have electrical as well. This is a scout camp so expect children noise until 9-10pm as well.
