Blount County Recycling Center

I used to love this place as it is clean and was generally staffed with helpful employees. Today, I noticed two separate issues and attempted to phone the highway department for advice, but they did not bother to return my call. Issue 1: the rude employee who stepped in front of my vehicle and meandered to the office slowly. He may be the rude smoker others have complained about. Issue 2: no container to collect RECYCLABLE plastic bags. I believe Mr. Rude has a problem with them so he must not have placed them out. Since the taxpayers of Blount County fund this facility, it should not be a hassle for employees to fulfil their tasks or for the highway department to return phone calls in a timely manner. They may be the only show in town, but they are still funded by the residents. Time to step up.n**Update** I have now spoken with the supervisor. He explained that the blue plastic bins were a convenience for people to discard the non-recyclable bags that were used to bring in the recycling. He also promised to speak with Mr. Rude about his interaction with the public. Moving this review from 2 to 4 stars for the responsiveness.

CLOSED for New Year's Eve!nI found this out by visiting there today around 2pm. I'm glad that I'm wasn't the only one who went by there only to be disappointed... everyone needs some time off. Happy New Year everybody and the center is great for not only your recycling rubbish needs but for discarding used motor oil as well:)

Great organized recycling center. I wished they would take glass, but they do take everything else.

Quick and easy. Wish they had recycling for plastic bags and glass, but otherwise glad it is here.

Nice layout for a recycling center. I wish they would have a place to dispose of packing materials (foam, bubble wrap, etc.).
