Very friendly staff. Small but interesting. Native Artifacts, local history etc.

Husband and wife team. Wife helped my fiance look up records for ancestral graves while husband gave me a tour of The Alamo model (the detail is amazing!) and of the Saluda Theater next door. Amazing history lesson of Bonham and Travis, 2nd cousins who fought and died at the Alamo.

I visited the Saluda County Historical Society Museum on August 21, 2017. The day of the epic Eclipse of 2017! Everyone that we met there was absolutely wonderful. I had a complete tour and history of the city and local area. The museum is filled with so much local history. It really is a great little place. You should check it out. They are run by local volunteers who know so much about their history. It's really great! Please visit this museum. Donate to them as well. Every dollar helps and is appreciated.nThe Theatre next door is currently being renovated. They are working to restore it to as close to original as possible. They are working so very hard to bring this theatre back to life. I received a personal tour of the building during my visit. This theatre dates back to the early 1900's. The smell of history when you walk in is so great. I love that smell. It takes you to a place in your mind where you can see back in time when everyone dressed up in their best clothes to see the show. If you stare long enough you can almost see the spirits of people in the past just taking their seats, walking around and just mingling among the elite towns folk as the show begins. Anyway, let the photos take you to a different time and place. You might enjoy the ride.nThe Historical Society is renovating this theatre and could definitely use your help. Feel free to send any donation to them and help out. They currently use the theatre in the condition it is now. Any money they receive is used for renovations. Help them! These are great people in an amazing town.
