The location and view are great. The camper spots are okay, but either very close together or have a lot of vehicle traffic. My family and I have stayed in the cabins at this location several times as well as at other military campground cabins. The water pressure is great and the heating and air seemed to work sufficient. The larger cabins are in much better condition. The older cabins do not look like they have been updated in about 20+ years. Biggest issue we had during this last trip was that the place is not providing linens or towels. This makes it very difficult to pack for a large family. Also,we were not even told by the staff prior to arriving....luckily we heard about having to bring your own linens from a coworker. Great access to the lake and rental equipment is available. Small shop is available with basic items, but do not try to go there 15 minutes before closing because they will turn you away. Lastly, the staff is very friendly and helpful, but they are often hard to find. Maybe they could use a couple extra employees to better serve their customers.

This was my first time staying at the Wateree Recreation cabins. I stayed in Cabin 9. The cabin is situated in a nice culdesac. I must say the furnishings are quite outdated, but I guess it gives you the “roughing it” feel since you are camping. The walls in one bedroom looked as though there was black mold near the floor. The filter in the kitchen was absent and circulated the dust throughout the cabin when running. I would suggest updating the cabin with new curtains (or washing them), a new sleeper sofa (I covered with a sheet and it smelled), and a nee roll away bed (it was coming apart). Overall it was not a bad stay for 2 days. I’m interested to see what the other cabins look like. Bring your lawn chair so that you can sit around the fire pit.

Some sites a bit tight to get into, and area quite hilly so leveling up was a real challenge for some campers. Beautiful area, kids enjoyed the beach and the water. Great place.

It is just a great place to go, throw some fishing poles in and relax. The staff are great and attentive to all your needs. Been going here since 2015 and it is my families go to when we need a day out or want to make a weekend out of it.
