A great adventure! My husband an I have been here twice now. We stayed 4 1/2 hours digging for crystals this time and the experience is heaven on earth! We found some beautiful crystals, played in the sand, and got real dirty! We ar both 55 and this experience makes you feel like a kid again treasure hunting and getting that exciting feeling overwhelm you each time you find a crystal. This is an A+ state park!! super fubn experience! i recommend bringing garden shovels and knee foam pads from the dollar tree! also sun screen if you have fair skin, something to shift the dirt and crystals apart like a colander , water to clean crystals, and an extra paid of sandals and some clothe since you WILL get dirty!

Went early the morning of September 15, 2020. The paths along the creek and wetlands provide good opportunities to see a large variety of birds. At one point a flock of ~100 Pelicans flew overhead and the sound of their wings was very unique. If you are going to look for wildlife go at sunrise.nnI went to the designated place to dig for crystals. I walked all the way out toward the lake and kicked at some of the mounds of dirt from previous diggers and was able to find 3 crystals very quickly.nnUnique place with multiple things to do.
