I went to this accountant for years when it was Beardon and had wonderful experiences. When Meador and McCasland took over, I almost just did them myself on TurboTax since it was a very simple return- a few W-2s and standard deduction. To my regret I went ahead and used Meador and McCasland just for ease. I sent them with all of my printed documents as well as a list of everything included. This year I received a letter from the IRS that one of my employers income was not reported! They did not include $24k in income on my taxes, so I owed the IRS and the fee of over $400 for doing them wrong! This has never happened to me before, so I called to see how to fix it and if they could write a letter for me asking to waive the fee since of course I would pay them immediately! They told me that it’s my fault for not checking my return before submitting it (which yes, I should have looked more closely but it was so simple and this had never happened, so I just didnt), and that they were going to charge me $200 to refile and write a letter! How do you screw up an extremely simple return?? Then make me pay to fix your mistake?? Needless to say that will be the first and last time I use them. Just make sure you check your paperwork with them with a fine-toothed comb.
