Purse (Nanjemoy WMA)

We could have stayed all day! Even though the water was freezing (it's March) there's still so many things to find and do. We (four ye old) really enjoyed throwing big rocks, finding shells, floating sticks, and seeing larger birds-even a pair of eagles! What a wonderful quiet place. Earlier arrival is better to get a parking spot.

Beautiful beachfront, great for finding tiny shark tooth fossils. Easy 1/4 mile walk down to the beach (though very steep at the end!) Make sure to go during high tide because at low tide sometimes the beach completely disappears. I believe you can swim (no lifeguards) in the summer

Great little gem of a place to find shark teeth. Can be a challenge when the tide is high, so check the charts.nSaw two bald eagles fly over and various other birds.nDownside: the trash left behind by other visitors.

This was a great little find! Spent several hours swimming and looking for shark teeth. Water wasn’t deep and was totally warm. Across street from parking area, follow the paved path about 1/4 mile to the beach. Water shoes are advised. The water was muddy but clean. My dog LOVED it as did my kids. It wasn’t busy on a Wednesday afternoon.

Very pretty place! Found plenty of sharks teeth and a few other fossil along with sea glass
