We were driving back to Houston from Tennessee and were passing through Mississippi when I noticed a sign for a Lynyrd Skynyrd monument at the next exit. We took the detour and saw the monument of course. Very nice and well maintained monument commemorating the area where their plane crashed in 1977. Love finding amazing spots like this at random on road trips.
Locals are friendly and this is an important monument. I was able to record video with the President of the board and the Vice president who was a First Responder on scene at the crash site for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Everyone was accommodating and very helpful. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to visit this memorial site and learn more about what actually happened here. Highly recommended.
The Monument is such a peaceful,beautiful place. A must see for any Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. Visitors are welcomed 24 hours a day at no charge.The people I've met there are awesome.
See it! I'm so glad we decided to take the detour to see it. I didn't know what to expect but it sure exceeded any expectation I had. Beautiful tribute. Thank you!
Had a gentleman who was one of those there at the time of the crash. He was great at taking pictures for USA d sharing information about the crash and the memorial site.
