Shadows-on-the-Teche

Having grown up in New Iberia I have visited the Shadows a few times and always enjoyed it. I had the chance to introduce my husband to this beautiful home while we were home for Christmas. Our guide, Barbara, seemed very knowledgeable and provided information I had never before heard. We were very pleased.

Had an amazing personal tour. We loved the place, the history, and the gardens. It was such a beautiful place with such epic trees and views. They didn't have much history on the slaves, but it was addressed for what records they did have.

Have been a few times and learned a lot about the house, the Weeks family and the region. Loved it and will return often!

Exterior view. Southern antebellum sugar plantation built in 1831-34 by David Weeks. Restored in the 1920s by the builder's great-grandson, William Weeks Hall, 1894-1958.

Nice tour beautiful home. The arts and crafts markets they have every year are great. Great prices for nice items you can't get in the store.
