Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation Historic Site

We popped in on our way to St. Simons and really enjoyed the 15-minute film and the house tour. Our tour guide was dynamite. Although the tour was an hour long, the time passed by very quickly. She was quite knowledgeable and answered any questions the group had. There are also several outbuildings on the property, including slaves' quarters. Definitely recommend a visit.

Beautiful grounds. A lot of beautiful old live oaks. A nice place for history and a walk.

I love this place it was donated to the county by the late daughter of a rice plantation owner. She donated it in 1973. It has a main homestead an complete with old slave quarters. There's a museum with the full history of how an why they started it. Wear some comfortable sneakers as there is some walking involved.. It's down hwy17 across the street from hwy 99 which is exit 42. There's plenty of parking an it's $8.00 per person..
