This is a review of North Florida Motor Sports of Gainesville (NFMS). After a horrible local flood which totaled my most favorite and unique 2007 Ford Sportrac, I carried out a nationwide search for a replacement – I hoped to find the same vehicle. I have extensive experience with, and enjoy quality used vehicles, so I carry out very intensive nationwide searches. There were 4 listed as available in the USA – Texas, Washington, and 2 in Florida. All were advertised by conventional dealers (I thought). All appeared to be acceptable as to year, condition, style, mileage, and the prices were competitive.nI did more investigating, and the reputation of NFMS, the condition of the vehicle, all of the fine details listed in the advertisement, and something special about the owner of NFMS, really grabbed me.nAfter several chats with NFMS, I decided to proceed with this purchase – a 2010 Sportrac, white, loaded with leather, under 80,000 miles, and about $20,000. I live in Louisiana, and a flight to Gainesville was scheduled for my test drive. If I liked it, I would drive it back.nJust as part of the chat, NFMS advised me that shipping would be about $250. Complete. What? I expected a thousand. So, very hesitantly, I proceeded, and dropped the plan to fly to Florida.nWhat happened next was nothing short of an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. Paperwork was sent overnight, also in fine detail, including even a return label and envelope for the executed papers. The package also included papers for the bank, as well as all other paperwork to register the vehicle in LA, and the rest of the papers that are routine. Nothing was left out. He even communicated with my bank and arranged to have all of their paperwork completed for them! (Thank heavens!)nSo, still very nervous, I bought the truck, unseen, no test drive, nothing but NFMS’s word and a bunch of photos. Stupid, I know, particularly in this scamming internet world of used cars!nA few days later, the truck arrived at the designated spot, sitting high on a car carrier. The vehicle looked super. Before unloading, I was able to get under it and really see everything in the undercarriage. It was literally like new under there – no mud, dirt or rust anywhere. Even the tailpipe was shiny chrome! And that little piece of aluminum covered insulation between the tailpipe and the cabin, by the bend, looked brand new. Amazing.nThe truck was unloaded, and I got my first real look inside and out. Flabbergasted. Under the hood, the original labels were still there, not even turned at the edges. It was better than new – all of what was represented in NFMS’s ad, and conversations with me, and more. It even had several aftermarket additions not even listed, including a rear camera installed into the rearview mirror.nI had several business trips planned so, after changing the oil (only) I immediately drove the vehicle about 1,000 miles – worried and waiting for that “other shoe to drop”. Nothing ever dropped! I took it to my area repair shop, and after a lengthy inspection, they reported some “bad news” – there was nothing wrong with the vehicle, and nothing was recommended to be done with it.nSo, in sum, while I have never trusted any dealerships; never believed any used car advertising; never relied on a telephone representation; have a serious dislike of car salesmen; I learned a lesson: never say never. NFMS deal was fair, trustworthy, and so incredibly well executed that I still have trouble believing it all myself. After a year of ownership, I am still thrilled with the truck, which my friends insist is a 2018!nTrust North Florida Motor Sports – they are all about what they claim, and you can take it to the bank!
