Lovely local park. With over 30 mi of trails, it is an amazing park for running and walking around. Anytime of the season there's always something to see. There's lots of parking and multiple entrances. A two-year pass cost something like 150 bucks. Parking costs between $10 and $5 depending on the season. There are places to go swimming and kayaking. It's a dog-friendly park lots of people bring their pooches and while you should keep your dog on a leash if it's raining in the park is almost empty or if you go there in the middle of a work day you can sometimes get away with not having your dog ventilation on a less traveled path as long as the dog is well behaved. there are plenty of snakes in the park so if you do keep your dog off the leash or even if you have a dog on a leash or children do be careful. Water moccasins and diamondbacks and even their rattlesnake have been seen in the park. There are also snapping turtles I do not recommend trying to pick one up. The main path in the park allows bicycles I prefer to hike on the less traveled path because bicyclists are not the best people at letting you know that they are riding up behind you and some folks ride really fast on the main path.

Great campground with direct beach access. The sites are relatively secluded and many have really unique features. Cool campground.nThe negatives: no full hookups, many of the spots are directly next to a major highway. Site 27 is right next to the highway.nThe campground has little control over noisy guests at night without calling rangers.nStill a really nice campground.

Such a beautiful state park. Located on the Chesapeake Bay with great trails for walking and biking. For the most part, camp sites are spacious and fairly private. The camp store is one of the best I've seen. Only complaint, it was cold when we visited so we spent $18 on firewood since we couldn't bring our own. What we bought was not cured and did little to create a nice cozy fire! Otherwise, all wonderful. We will return.

Loved staying in cabin #2. It's up on a hill and has lots of charm with wooden floors and a cozy, working fireplace. The cabin was built in the 1930's, so you get a little taste of history too. The park had great trails. I hiked to the swamp area (Bald Cypress Trail) and to the beach on the bay (Live Oak Trail). Both definitely worth it! My only complaint is they were not well marked, so I would suggest using Alltrails or a similar app in case you can't find your way. Great place to go in the Fall when there are no bugs!

I join the state park to start camping. I like the saying happy camper happy life. The Rangers were very helpful and friendly. I love being near the water and trees and mountains too there is no mountain. The people I talked to were so relaxed and helpful too.
