This place is great we only did the out and back straight to the falls which was about two miles from the overflow lot all the way at the bottom. So 4 mi round trip took us 4hrs. When we went there were 11 crossings that we counted and we had 4 adults and 3 kids 13, 10 and 9. We were not trying to get wet so it took us a little while to navigate each crossing and get the two youngest kids across dry. Definitely wear some kinda waterproof hiking boot if you have it. Our oldest daughter wore a rubber rain boot that went up to the bottom of her knee and she had an easy time crossing each one.

The 2 mile has about 6 river crossing but it's better then a 6mile hike. Getting across the river along the way is what makes arriving to this place such a treat. Honestly with a good pair of non slippery shoes and a change of clothes this is a fun hike. Definitely have a change of clothes. Unless you have a 4×4 dont even try to park up the hill.

The details of the length of this were misleading and the signs are wrong. Twice we passed by signs that indicated that we had a mile and a half to go. The second was after about three miles of hiking and the sign said we still had a mile and a half. The loop is about 12 miles instead of the seven they say. The upper loop is seven miles there and seven back and it does cross several streams even though they say it doesn’t. This trail was made by a sadistic devil who invented stream crossings in sight of each other for no reason at all, other than to torment us humans. It’s beautiful but the sign should correctly reflect the mileage and not make you feel that you are in a hellworld where you are going around and around in a loop from which you will never return. We were almost caught there after dark. It was dark when we got back to our car.

Devil's Bathtub is a waterfall and pothole in the creek bed that makes an excellent swimhole. Be warned, the water is very cold. It's a 3-4 mile round trip hike with dozens of creek crossings so plan to get your feet wet. The hike is beautiful and worth taking your time. We wore water shoes so the crossing were no big deal. My only complaint was that it was super crowded. Scott County built a second parking area to accommodate demand and that was almost full too. There was almost no one at Little Stony so we were surprised it was so crowded here. Would definitely recommend visiting during the week and arriving early to avoid the crowds.

Was a beautiful hike that lead you across the creek 11 times before you reach the actual Devils Bathtub. It will surprise you on how cold it is if your not used to swimming in colder mountain water
