All I can say is WOW. This place is amazing. I've never been to a community center that had this much to offer. They even have a Child Development Center. Please check it out.

I was impressed with the inclusion forum & speaker but stunned that Temple Beth El, Temple Or Atid & Chabbad didn't have any programs over the year addressing domestic abuse/child abuse. The most vulnerable are left on an island of isolation, still. It also sends a message to the community & members that the synagogue isn't willing to recognize support for women & kids in abusive families. The place of worship sets a tone for what is considered allowable or not. Disheartening to say the least. It also demonstrates a value assigned to wives & kids. If they mattered independently, there would be an open door & a yearly forum on domestic violence for the community & for the members. What happened to...inclusion. Is an open hand & open door offered to the select only? Inclusive, but not if you are a victim? Appears so. Blame is thus inferred if not directly assigned. All 3 are Richmond VA synogugues. The community pours out solidarity for acts of violence at Jewish temples. We stand with our candles lit for those lost. At the DV awareness memorials in October, I've never seen a rabbi show up in solidarity in the past 10 years. Not one. What's the message?
