Great little spot that I discovered by accident about 10 years ago when I lived in Wise County. Easy access point from the road to get you on the river with a small boat, as well as a pretty good spot to set up for the day with a chair, a cooler, a cellphone (for music and getting pictures of all the fish), and your fishing gear. I've fished here 2-3 times and never been bothered by obnoxious people, and it seems like this spot holds some kind of fish all year long. I don't come to visit the area much anymore, but I think I may take a ride this spring to check this spot out again and see if I can catch anything interesting. Now that the river seems to have finally recovered from all the mine runoff spills that nearly destroyed the fishery about 30 years ago I've always done well on the Powell, though I haven't fished it for about 3 years.
It's a boat ramp, alright. Saw some shed snakeskin and a few pair of abandon shoes. Some thoughtless folks left the box to their four-person intertube just sitting in the rain. I caught myself wishing the great Hand of Karma would pop that raft mid-stream and leave those litterers with a few bruises on the cheek they prefer to lean on.nnA great place to put a boat in. 5 stars.
Just a old pavement/concrete ramp put together from a old highway bridge. Float boats and John boats only
