Balkan Restaurant

Food was delicious, hot and flavorful (veal cutlets and schnitzel), bread is amazing, and desserts were very good. Service was friendly and comfortable. The only thing I'm disappointed with was that I left my leftovers behind on the table. This was our second time here and will not be our last.

My first experience with Balkan food so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Most things on the menu though were actually quite familiar - even burgers and steak and cheese sandwich. I wanted to get something I didn't recognize so I could get a better feel for the cuisine, so I got the schnitzel plate which came on a bread and with fries. I would have preferred a different side other than fries, I can get those anywhere. The schnitzel was very good and cooked/seasoned nicely. It was great atop that bread. I also had fried cheese appetizer, and those are essentially mozz sticks but they are squares and I think had feta as well. Yum! A nice selection of Bulgarian wine which was interesting and very enjoyable. Sadly I live 2.5 hours away so I can't go again too soon to try something else but next time I'm in Richmond, we will be back!

Delicious food! Generous portions at a reasonable price and friendly atmosphere. I'm not from the area but will be sure to be back next time I'm in Richmond!

The most amazing food. Flavors you can't get anywhere else. My favorite place to eat when I'm in Richmond. Worth a try!

Everything I've had here has been excellent. Their bread is the absolute best. The service is also great as well. I think the good service may be partially due to this place being pretty empty most of the time though, which worries me, because this place is too good and unique to go out of business. It's not really a great location, but worth it to go out of the way to try. I'm not normally a desert guy, but their Spartak Torte is a top 10 ever deserts for me.
