Wind Rock/Appalachian Trail Parking

Only about 30 minutes from VT, this .4 mile hike makes for an ideal stargazing trip. There is practically no light pollution, and the summit is located so close to the parking lot that it’s easy to carry blankets or photography equipment with you. There are a number of great camping spots with lots of trees for hammocking. If you go at night, definitely wear warm clothes and bring blankets, because it’s usually cold and windy.

The trail isn't very far from the parking lot but it is washed out, exposing lots of rocks that you can trip and slip on. Wear good shoes. I wore slides and it was doable but painful.

Come for the view. Stay for the calm.

It's a quaint place to go for a beautiful view.
