A little old school, you can't pay online, but staff is great and facilities are very clean.

Our storage unit flooded which was evident from our soaked packing boxes. I went to lift a box and all of my grandmothers China fell out onto the floor and broke due to the soggy bottoms from the water. Our wedding pictures had molded from the moisture. The manager came out and took pictures, however no compensation will be provided as they are not liable for the damage caused by their leaking/flooding units. Upon further unpacking their was mouse droppings all over our pots and pans. I have never heard of a stoarage facility who is not liable for any compensation when THEIR units flood. Staff was unapologetic about the whole situation. Waste of a substantial amount of money, and memories. Would not recommend!

I rented a 10x20 storage unit for 1.5 years (2015-2016) with Shields and I cannot say enough good about this company. The initial reason I chose Shields was because they had unbeatable prices. I lived in Charlottesville and didn't mind the short commute to my storage unit to grab things here and there when needed. My storage unit was at the location across from Target in Waynesboro and as a young adult girl I always felt safe going there alone. It is gated and has a sophisticated electronic key pad to get onto the grounds. They also offer an automatic monthly bill deduction so you never have to worry about forgetting to pay your monthly bill. Everyone at Shield's is super friendly and helpful. I would recommend them above any other storage facility. They also give back to the community as evidenced by their generous donation to a golf benefit I was a part of.
