Blue Ridge Parkway North Entrance

Great drive!

No matter how busy the season is, you can thoroughly enjoy the Skyline Drive without the hassles of large crowds. The last couple of days have been peak viewing for the fall colors, which are quite muted this year due to the very wet summer Virginia enjoyed. The meandering well-maintained macadam road edged by beautiful local limestone walls, has numerous stops to enjoy the view - on both sides of the mountain ridge. If you’re lucky, around dusk, you’ll see deer and even sometimes bear come out to forage for food. Drive safely and enjoy!

This is just one of the entrances to the blue bridge parkway. If you have not driven the blue ridge parkway I highly recommend it it is nature at its finest. This parkway was such a wonderful idea at the time and helped our country through the depression by putting men to work. It is beautiful and breathtaking some of the views that you will see along your trip. There are places to stop that have local crafts I highly recommend stopping it all of them. Thoroughly research whether or not this entrance is open before you go. Seems like a strong breeze or light rain is enough to shut the road down for days.
