American Falls Dam

Great place to go fishing and just relax.

I've been past there many times, but never stopped. Today I got to ride and hike down to the river, on the west side of the dam. I was fascinated to see what was there. Old remnants of the dam from many years ago, where the water had eroded and shaped the basalt was incredible.

This is SUCH a beautiful place. I live about an hour north but the trip there is well worth it. For the fisherman, this is a great place to go below or above the dam. There seems to be so many fish. The water is pretty clean and the area in general is so awesome. I would love to live in the trailer park next to it and spend everyday fishing... but I guess one needs money. I am dying to get a boat out on the water especially below the dam in the morning. There are some neat old structures there and lots of old bridges. I am sure there is so much history to the place that I am totally unaware of. It would be interesting to read up on. I will surely stop by this place more often.

PROS. You can fish from so many different areas of American FALLS and catch fish.nCONS. needs to be cleaned up in some areas. People don't clean up after themselves
