We are year round residents on Prudence Island. There are many more seasonal residents here during the summer months. Living on an island has advantages and disadvantages.nAdvantages include limited contact with other people, (big advantage during the pandemic), close community (everyone helps everyone else), wonderful views of Narragansett bay, and lots of fun for children and grandchildren.nDisadvantages include many dirt roads with big potholes, many ticks, only one store, no restaurant nor any food dispensers, no public toilets for day travelers, non- drinkable water on much of the island, and access to the mainland only by a ferry.nHaving said this, we love it here!
beautiful for hiking and relaxing, just make sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, water, and bug spray!
Been going to Prudence my whole life, it is like another world. An island apart from the fast pace of mainland life.
Love the island. Nice and quiet.
