Large impressive and historic. This is a truly amazing place. Come while the sun is up.

The aerial silks classes here are wonderful! The instructors are very safety conscious which is very important in any aerial training. Warm up lasts about 20 minutes and involves light cardio and dynamic stretching to prevent muscle and joint stress. The classes usually have multiple instructors who each teach a few different moves, which allows students to pick what they want to work on based on their skill level. I was happy to see the instructors requiring students to practice certain moves on the ground before allowing them to practice higher on the fabric. They also have proper crash mats and the instructors spot the students on the fabric while they're learning.nnAfter practicing at another studio that did not have proper mats, spotting, or warm ups, it was great to find the classes here at Sokol! Everyone is very helpful, kind, and fun! If you're interested in trying aerial silks, this is the place to go!

Sokol Greater Cleveland is a Czech Cultural Center located in the Slavic Village neighborhood. Like most Sokols around the world, it offers recreational gymnastics programs for participants of all ages. This Sokol also offers aerial circus arts classes that are open to the public. And this Sokol also houses a charming historic 3,000-sq-ft ballroom better known as Bohemian National Hall.nnThe building consists of two parts. One side is a contemporary gymnasium set up for gymnastics including a full-size spring floor exercise mat that is used to host regional gymnastics meets. It also has four rigging points for aerial silks classes and a fifth rigging point used for aerial hoop/trapeze/straps/still rings. The front portion is a standard size volleyball court. There are also men's and women's locker rooms. The other associated and attached portion is a historic building built in the 1890s that houses a Czech museum and gift shop, a second-floor, 3,000-sq-ft ballroom known as Bohemian National Hall (wheelchair-accessible by elevator) with a proscenium stage and an associated bar and kitchen area, and a basement-level lower dining hall with a full caterer's kitchen that hosts a Czech Sunday dinner on a monthly basis (also w/c accessible by elevator). The ballroom and lower dining hall are available for rental functions such as wedding receptions. The historic portion has old-world charm and is meticulously maintained by the Sokol organization's membership.

I was het for a gymnastics meet. Nice big place, but they need reconditioning in the gym. It was hot in there. I couldn't imagine being there in summer. The room upstairs that had a/c was too cold.
