Easy to access from nearby cities. A lot of activities could be done! Fishing, boating, hiking and even a beach! A lot of picnic tables too. Quite and natural.

Lake Vesuvius Recreation Area is an enjoyable and peaceful place to visit thanks, in part, to its remoteness from any large city. The park is suitable for a short stay or picnic near the dam and historical iron furnace or one of several hiking trail options. Lakeside hiking trail options include a short one-third mile boardwalk scamper, an out-and-back hike along the lakeshore or even a multi-day backpacking excursion around the lake. We went off-season and virtually had the park to ourselves

Lake Vesuvius is a perfect place to kayak. It's small enough to where the whole lake can be explored in a single outing, the entire lake is a no-wake zone, and there is a beach to kayak to (with tables, so it is a perfect place to stop for a picnic). There's also a large rock in the lake that you can boat up to and jump off of if that's something you like to do. Ideal family adventure, even with little ones.nnWe rented tandem kayaks from a business that is on-site, right by the boat ramp called Kountry Kayaks. They were great, and the kayaks were clean and comfortable. I highly recommend.

Occasionally visit, however, other parks offer more.
