My daughter is a student at Wright campus. I thought it would be more convenient for her to attend this school because it was closer to our home. In reality it was the biggest mistake I could have made. First of all. The drop off and pick up for students is incredibly dangerous. When you pick your child up a teacher and or staff member opens your car door and just makes sure your child is in the car and you are expected to drive off WITHOUT your child being securely fastened into his or her car seat/booster seat. That is illegal people. Not to mention dangerous. Anything could happen in that parking lot. & what's even crazier is that of you pull to the side your almost hit or side swiped by oncoming cars while trying to fasten your child into their seats. Another thing. At the beginning of the year when I found out who my child's teacher was going to be, I was concerned that she wouldn't be the right fit for my child. Not that she's a bad teacher because she is not. But like I spoke to the principal about.. My child is the type that needs to be taught by someone who makes learning fun. She gets bored easily and also distracted quickly. So I thought maybe this teacher teaching methods weren't right for Emma. That she needed a more upbeat and enthusiastic teacher who made learning fun. Let's face it they are kindergartens. My child comes home daily with PACKETS.. page after page of work book papers that they do in class. I don't see how any kindergartner can have an attention span that last long enough to stay concentrated on 5-6 page work packet's. I did my research and read that a child can usually only stay concentrated on something for as many minutes as they are old. Therefore those children can only stay 100% focused on that one thing for 5-6 minutes. Yesterday was parent teacher conferences. My child's teacher was very rude and had no expression nor did she really explain anything or even seem remotely concerned that I was concerned with her assessment of my child. My child counts to 16 with the exception of switching 12 & 13 up before she starts messing up at home. She can count out coins with me from her piggy bank without any issue. She also knows almost all of her letters and can point and confirm which letter is which. But according to her teacher she can only count to 8 before messing up & can only recognize 12 letters out of the alphabet. But also let me say this. When I took my child in for her kindergarten testing she could only point to and tell you what FOUR letters were. So even if she only knew 12 now that's 8 new letters in under two months. Both capital and lowercase. Now obviously that's not a lot, but to me it doesn't mean she has a learning disability or needs to be put in an IEP class environment. I'm extremely angry and I feel as if instead of actually dealing with the situation this teacher would rather shove my child into another classroom instead of actually addressing the issue. I'm already waiting to speak with the principal bit on every occasion that I have tried to contact her she's always in a meeting. This school and the way it runs is awful. Fairborn schools in general are awful. I would know because I attended them as a child. I refuse to allow my child to be pawned off as having a learning disability instead of giving her a chance.. I mean for god sake she's not even been in kindergarten an entire two months yet. At the end of the day if your thinking about moving to Fairborn and your worried about the school system's here. They are awful hands down!
