Was very disappointed with the “crab and lobster” ravioli special here recently. For a $26 plate I received a bowl completely filled with way too much, thick pasta sauce and maybe 8 raviolis completely and grossly submerged in it. The meat was tasteless and nondescript. Absolutely no idea if it was even seafood. I would have had better quality ravioli from a can.

The last time I was in Athens a couple of years ago, I had a wonderful dining experience here. Hilarie and Mark Burhans and their staff made us feel special and welcome as we enjoyed their menu offerings. The smokey-flavored baba ganoush was especially memorable! I hope they are faring well with takeout during this pandemic.

Absolutely amazing. Our daughter’s large wedding was canceled due to Covid, we decided to do a much smaller wedding of 22 outside with social distancing. We had a difficulty finding a caterer for the smaller wedding, but was fortunately to find Restaurant Salaam and Hilarie. She provided with all the plate ware, glass ware and flatware prior to the wedding, we had it all set up and she came with her husband and plated all of guests dinner. We had Tomato Gazpacho soup, Salade Nicoise with Tuna or Steak and crusty French bread. All so delicious I have been back to her restaurant for pick up as they are closed for dine in. And I will back this Friday for another take out dinner! Thanks

We came from out of town and called to see if they had a dine in option. The woman who answered the phone told us it was take out only and the menu could be found on their website. After struggling with their website to pull up their menu, and being unable to do so, we finally went to the restaurant and looked at their menu which they have on the wall of their building. We called to place our order and was told that it was pre-order only and that we had to order by Thursday. It would have been nice to know that when we first called since it would have saved us 20 minutes.

Great restaurant in downtown Athens. Beautifully decorated, cozy feel. Wonderful warm bread and olive oil greets you at the table, local beers and a decent wine list to choose from. There is a house made spicy red pepper sauce at the table which is delightful. Salaam salad with walnuts and cheese or red pepper coconut soup come with entrees. Entrees from lamb kabobs $25 to falafel or gyros $8, so something for every price.Don’t forget dessert! We had cashew ladyfingers (similar to Baklava) and tiramisu which we’re both excellent.
