East State Street Dog Park

Wide open space, fenced in, doggie pool. Nice place and clean. They had large rocks and concrete drainage tube to play in, on or to get out of the sun. Sitting area for humans.

Great place for us to hang out and let the puppers run free!

Compared to other dog parks I've seen around the US, this one is just fine. First, it is free and there is no expectation you pay or register...just come any time you want. It is fully, properly fenced, and has a shade shelter, adequate benches, and plumbed running water. It is an old baseball field so there is lots of space for the dogs to run around in. Patrons are usually good about picking up the poop so, unlike the Athens West State Street Dog Park, you don't see that stuff laying around as often. It can be hot here in the summer, and chilling in the winter, because it lacks any nice shade trees. But it is very convenient to the Athens Far East Side, so I often bring the dog on trips that include Kroger, Walmart, etc. A very nice facility for resident or visiting dog owners. Just turn to the South at the stoplight by CVS, and follow the road down and around, and you're there.
