I cannot say enough about how positive an experience I've had with Nichol's Yacht Yard. Dennis, Liz, and the entire Staff were extremely professional, helpful, knowledgeable, honest, and friendly. They went out of their way to assist me in the transport of my boat and without me being there at the time of transport, they did everything that they said they would, provided me with excellent service and communication, and were just so straightforward and easy to work with that it made a somewhat stressful process so much easier...thank you to the entire team at Nichol's, you've exceeded all of my expectations, took fantastic care of my boat, and I will be recommending you to anyone and everyone moving forward!

I am a long-time customer of Nichols Yacht Yard for my 30’ Pursuit 3000 Express with twin diesels. I certainly have a choice of many other places to keep my boat, but have been with them for over 20 years because of their outstanding service and appreciation of their customers. They bend over backwards to meet your expectations and have a crew of service mechanics that cannot be beat. Their prices are reasonable and they are honest. They also have a very active and well run dry sail service. The yard is well maintained as are the docks and facilities. They are dog friendly. Being across from Mamaroneck’s Harbor Island Park, you can get a front row seat to the July 4th fireworks show without needing to move your boat, as in the accompanying picture. The yard is within easy walking distance of Mamaroneck Village with its many restaurants and shops, is well protected against storms, and is only a few minutes through the harbor to get to the open sound.

I have kept my Alerion 28 at Nichols since 2009, for both a summer slip and winter storage, and have been very happy with the yard and their work. The location is great, near Mamaroneck's restaurants, fuel docks, and a small chandlery. The harbor is well protected, and Nichols' floating docks kept my boat safe even during Hurricane Sandy. Sea Tow has a base across from Nichols, and the marina lies just across the channel from Harbor island Park (which provides a bucolic view as well as a prime location for the July 4th fireworks show). The manager (Dennis McCarthy) is very knowledgable about both sail and power systems, and there are also superb on-site mechanical repair and fiberglass services as well as boat washing/waxing. They will commission and decommission your boat, shrink-wrap over the winter, and do the bottom antifouling as needed. There is a large Travelift if you need a haul-out mid-season, and basic shore amenities such as bathrooms and showers. The office staff (Liz and Madeline) take care of all the paperwork and, weather-permitting, you can be pretty sure your boat will be splashed or hauled out when promised. Their prices are reasonable considering the area, and they don't add unnecessary expenses such as pulling the mast annually or removing and replacing batteries every season. There is round-the-clock yard and dock security, but the location is in a very safe area, even for the ducks and geese who will pay you a visit from time to time!

I have kept my Island Packet 27 year-round at Nichols for over a decade. They commission and decommission the boat, pretty much on my schedule (early in, late out), which I find remarkable for a busy yard. They service the Yanmar 2GM20 engine; they wash and wax her. Over the years, they have replaced my old aluminum water and holding tanks with new plastic ones. They have soda-blasted, faired, barrier coated and painted the bottom, and they paint the bottom every year or two; they let me know if only a touch-up is needed. They have also done a variety of gelcoat and fiberglass repairs. They replaced my cutlass bearing and rebedded the stern tube on a crash basis a couple of years ago. They're now working on a new fuel tank for me. I have found all their work to be superb. They keep me apprised of what needs to be done and they give me realistic estimates of when it will be done. I have found that if I am reasonable with them, they are more than reasonable with me, and this is particularly so of Denis (in charge) and Robert (mechanic) and Zack (gelcoat and fiberglass). Prices are market for this area, and this is a pricey market. I find I get what I pay for: great work, which is what I am looking for. Also, very important, the yard and docks are meticulously maintained, and they let you work on your boat, which I do for non-mission critical tasks (maintaining the teak, etc.).
