Not my style for a high school experience in a rural area and few options for more of an authentic cultural diversity of which has a more inclusivity of an authentic and meaningful norm rather than the exception. Understanding the limitations of a rural area, it's past the point of out of the box and school for that matter, to have a mission statement of accountability rather than a mere symbolic acknowledgement of the criteria that is far behind other nearby area schools and their rate of an accelerated and varying degrees for students to experience a more multitude of what interests them. We must use more resources of an evidence based curriculum for the dynamic world these kids are going to be a more of a global citizen of the world than an isolationist experience in this quickly and competitive global education that will be their future, hopefully. I have a concern about more than a disproportionate percentage of the student body has an after graduation rate for moving beyond the scope of the Rochester suburban area. While there are very excellent colleges and universities in the area, most of my experience with the purpose of a more than an observer, but a former student of many year's past, with minimal changes in the experiential learning of which I am a subjective reporter rather than a more objective person who has no First person experience with the school and it's inner culture of a homogeneous atmosphere. I hope that many changes have been made and more than half of their teacher's are of a far more modern educational background with new and relevant learning experiences rather than going through each class and expectations were consistent with what was expected: a older copied quiz on the assigned reading. Personally, I have no recollection of reading any material and found every quiz common sense of such that passing along was what I did. When, moving on to my first year in college I was hit hard by having to reach myself 4 year's of the high school equivalent to what I never learned as a student there. I was horrified and humilated by how far behind I was and the amount of work I had no choice but to muddle through. I made it work for me, but I wonder how many other's didn't have the luxury of time and good professor's. I would still, many years later strongly recommend that any parent whose child is about to become a student here... please do your due diligence and find out exactly what the methods of teaching the New York State standards are and how do they create varying learning styles to which will engage most students. I would be concerned about the other issues of it's rural area and culture of which is heavily part of the school's whole population of which it serves. I would have to suggest many family events and experiences in a different area of which distance is not a usual issue to be close enough for your child and your family have an accessible transportation to and from, and doing again your parental diligence to know the upcoming events and appropriate to do lists for your child. As, in many rural areas the education system is limited to it's natural resources and it's extension of reaching out to outside resources. Your child's education will have to be further supplemented by every child's own famial home and it's extension into the broader areas of communities that your child will need as he or she prepares to be an intelligent member of society in where they will be expected to have a fair amount of knowledge that I believe it is the responsibility of the parents when choosing this school for your child. Happy High School experience... as well as your own little lesson planning!
