My experience was COMPLETLY different than last reviewer. I was in desperate need of an electrician, and phoned too many companies to count. The wait time I was given was 2-3 Months! I found Chris at 409 Electric, and read all the excellent reviews online, called and spoke with Chris's wife, who runs the office. I explained my situation and she squeezed me into a canceled spot that week. Chris tackled a couple of very unusual and awkwardly situated issues in kitchen. He was efficient and did excellent work. His prices are VERY fair. He surprised me by spending his own time after he was paid by looking at a ceiling fan, and discussing options and providing detailed guidance on purchasing a replacement. Thank you Chris, I am happy I now have an electrian that I trust for future work. A+

I had Chris install a new exterior outlet and replace a receptacle and switch on the exterior of my home while I was getting our siding replaced. Chris did great work, but my problem with him was on the back end of our interaction relating to his invoice and payment for services rendered.nnFirst, he never mentioned that he is cash/check only. When I asked him how I facilitate a card payment he gave a laugh and said cash only. When I told him I didn't have cash on me he asked if I could write a check, which I did. It would have been nice to know upfront that he doesn't accept card payments.nnThe next issue was when I questioned his invoice. He had billed me for 3 hours of labor, although he was only at my house for 2 1/2 hours over 2 visits. He got very defensive to me questioning his invoice, in which he responded 'maybe he should have worked slower then' and that he 'could have charged me a flat rate of $600 for the work'. Prior to ever agreeing to this work he clearly started he charged $150 for the first hour of service, and then $100 and hour for each additional hour plus materials. I was fine with this, but did not appreciate the unprofessional manner in which he got chippy about me wanting to pay only for the time he was at my house and working. I ended up paying the full cost, basically eating the $50 in labor that he did not work.nnmy main issue though was when I looked at the invoice of the materials. He charged me for materials that my siding company provided and paid for. He essentially double dipped, and even though it was only $20 for the specific material, it was slimy and when I emailed him about it, he deflected the claim and said he usually gets '1-2 individuals like me a year who pick apart his invoice for some rebate'. He also stated that it is not easy owning a business in in NY, so I guess that is his justification for scamming people. All in all I was over charged $70 on a $435 bill which is 16%. Keep track of him if you do hire him, because I am sure he will try to squeeze every penny out of you too.
