Kabob Wildlife Management Area

My maternal grandparents and subsequently one of my mother´s brothers and his family lived in a house in Kabob. I lived on or near Chautauqua Lake and every summer, my cousins and I would stay a week or two at each other´s home. I loved going out in the country! Except having to use the outhouse. I clearly remember when indoor plumbing was added when my cousins and I were pre-teens in the early ´60s. We still slept in a tent during my visits there, but it was certainly nice being able to take a hot shower within the confines of the house! My family moved to Cassadaga in my senior year of high school and since I already knew a lot of classmates, the transition was an easy one. When our adults complained about the snow, we took to horses and, later on, snowmobiles. Snow and all, if I moved back to western NY, Kabob is where I´d call home.

Kabob is a quiet, little neighborhood that is tucked away in the middle of three little communities. I have lived in Kabob most of my life and I wouldn't have it any other way, I love it here!!
