After 25 years off the bike, I trained really hard and competed in about 15 road races in 2016 (at age 54)… until I tore my hamstring tendon, which warranted surgery in 2017 to reattach it. The surgeon accidentally severed part of my sciatic nerve leaving my left leg permanently numb, with limited function and atrophied. Regardless, I still wanted to get fit and race again. (Heck, there are one-legged cyclists out there, mine’s just numb and weak.) So I started training again after recovering from surgery. During a routine training ride last year, I slid on a hidden patch of gravel and sustained a broken back, broken rib, punctured lung, lacerated liver, concussion and my pelvis broken in 4 places. (I seem to have had a few setbacks.) I wasn’t sure I’d even get back on my bike ever again…. but I healed and within 8 months, was back on my bike training again. I could really feel my weak areas and imbalances and needed someone to help me strengthen my core. I reached out to Rod Murray, knowing is a cycling coach (so he fully understood my goals and training regime) and an expert in fitness, strength and conditioning. I worked with Rod 2x week for several months and really saw my core strength improve. He delivered and his help complimented my cycling training. Rod is extremely knowledgeable about how the body works and moves. He is super dialed in on my specific issues and tailors his program just for my needs. He has helped me get strong and fit again and it feels great. I recommend him highly!!! He is effective AND fun! Thank you Rod. Hope to be working with you again soon.

I met Rod back in November 2019 while searching for a coach that could help complement my cycling workouts with off bike training. At the time, my only goal was to get faster in my uphill time trialing. I was initially drawn to Rod’s unique perspective on fitness given his background as a cyclist.nCoach Rod quickly delivered on my initial goals & needs; however, it was the side benefits that really improved the quality of my life. For instance, I spend a lot of time driving, often 4 + hours in the car. I used to get a pain in my right hip after about 3 hours or so. After 3 months of working with Rod, the pain in my hip has virtually disappeared. Furthermore, I feel like the clock has been turned back by 10 years with respect to my skiing. I am a life-long skier and typically rack up 40+ days a season, the fatigue free days and greater range of motion are very welcome side effects. It is with hindsight that I realize the perfect name that Rod has given his business; “Body4Life”.nWorking one-on-one with Rod has been a pleasure, he takes great care to build workout plans that are specific to my needs and my schedule. He knows what exercises I need to do, how often to do them and what the next progression should be. He takes the guess work out of my fitness. When the inevitable injury comes along, Rod will adapt the program and help me recover faster. Coach Rod and Body4Life easily gets five stars all the way.

April 2020 - 1:1 in-home virtual personal training sessions are even better than I expected! Thank you, Rod for keeping us going strong through this stay-home springtime!nnI've always been a pretty active person, but since I began classes, training and also cycle coaching at Body4Life training I have become fitter, faster and healthier than in all my years exercising on my own. Rod has taught me how to spend LESS time working out, yet make really noticeable improvement in my strength, flexibility and speed, without the overuse injuries I used to acquire on my own. The addition of yoga to the routines lately has added a new dimension to the classes and I enjoy the camaraderie that happens when we work out together.

Rod is one of the most knoweledgable people I know when it comes to understanding how the body works whether its for day to day comfort or sports performance. I had a history if issues that were stopping me running due to hip or knee/calf pain. He has tailored my program to improve strength and reduce injury. Thanks Rod!

My wife and I are huge fans. Rod at Body4Life is an awesome trainer. I came to Body4Life with challenges with my shoulders, hips (arthritic pain) and overall flexibility. It didn't take long to start to see the benefits, and I feel 100% better. Before we went to B4L I was in and out of physical therapy a couple times within a year for different issues. Because of Rod's dynamic flexibility program I truly believe I'm less prone to those types of issues now because of my improved strength and flexibility.nWe're both in better condition than we've ever been. Rod's dynamic flexibility program is just what we needed. In addition Rod is a pleasure to work with, with a fun sense of humor, and a great person.
