Absolutely gorgeous view! I walked along the walkway and you can even have a nice picnic on the grass or even bring some food to toss on the grill. You can walk down the dock to get alittle closer to the water. There's huge rocks you can climb across to try to look for sea creatures or seashells. When low tide you can climb down the rocks down to the beach. But once the ride comes up, I recommend you climb back up the rocks to the grass up above. You can see mountains behind the lighthouse and really a 180degree of beauty. Just stunning absolutely stunning! I highly recommend anyone that loves to look at mother nature's beauty at its finest...go here! I will not let you down on this! It's peaceful and definitely puts a huge smile on anyone's face that's goes there. ud83dude01♥ufe0f

Portsmouth harbor lighthouse has rich history and you can get to visit this lighthouse on Sunday between 1 to 5pm with a guided tour. Brilliant views all around and can spot the whaleback lighthouse from here. Both these lighthouses are 50 feet tall. PHL was earlier built with wood and is now reconstructed with cast iron. Whaleback light is built with granite to withstand high tides. The light on top of the PHL is made using fresnel lens and it is FG - fixed green. In the guided tour you can get to light it up, it operates on light sensors. Parking here is free and a minimal fee or donation for an adult is 4$ which is very much worth it. The souvenir store has good collection of lighthouse themed keepsakes to take home with you. With us on this tour was a 90year old elderly person who could climb up atop of the lighthouse. Stairway leading to the top is safe.

Drove hours to get here, only to find the gates to the facility closed; with no info available regarding a reopen date. Thanks COVID-19.

Closed but can see it from neighboring Beach or common.

It wouldn't have been nice to know that it was close. I did some researchers before I visit and I wouldn't fine anything saying that it was. I would have love to see the lighthouse
