When I first heard that Bob Bahre was building the place I thought how popular would NASCAR racing be in New England? It was immediately popular. When I first attended NHIS I wondered if the place would ever the feel like the numerous NASCAR tracks visited down south. The place feels like NASCAR all the way.nAs time marches on many fans will learn of the exceptional racing put on by the Whelen Open Wheeled Modifieds (Saturday racing). Ryan Newman of NASCAR fame will run these and is a MASTER at driving these beasts.nThe Xfinity race class is one notch below the Monster Energy class but put on an equally excellent show. Brad Keselowski of Monster Energy Cup fame drove a beautiful bumble-bee-yellow with a tinge of green car. Familiar names like Elliott Sadler compete in this class.nFinally the K&N Pro series cars ran Saturday and include drivers like Harrison Burton, son of famous NASCAR driver Jeff Burton.nThe Monster Energy Cup races on Sunday were spectacular. The entire 301 laps included so many lead changes...lots of passing on the inside/outside. The track surface looks like it is in fine shape. A surprise was Eric Almorola who came so close to winning. Look at the names: Keselowski/Logano/Blaney, Kurt and Kyle Busch, Ryan Truex, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Larson, Ryan Newman, Hamlin, Darrell Wallace...so many more.nJnFun to watch on TV, far superior live...
